A fundraiser. A sudden blackout. And a murder no one saw coming.

Willie Wilder came to Grandview for a quieter life, not to investigate a body found backstage at the Community Center. But when a simple review of old bookkeeping ends in murder, Willie and her coffee-fueled Queenager friends are pulled back into the kind of trouble they never seem to avoid… despite repeated warnings by Sheriff CJ Corbin to stay out of it.

With her sharp-minded circle and her telepathic poodle Axel (who is very clear about his opinions) Willie follows a trail of missing receipts, altered records, and secrets someone’s desperate to keep buried.

Suspicion falls on a spotlight-loving donor with a half-paid pledge, a cagey contractor tied to past fraud, and a jittery grant coordinator with something to hide. 

All had reason to fear the victim. All were near backstage when the lights went out.

But the deeper Willie digs, the more dangerous the truth becomes.

Because this time, the killer isn’t just hiding in plain sight… they’re watching her dig.
